Outrageous battle between reality and sub-reality
I live in Russia and here things are little bit different than you have in “The West” ;)) Classic social media is growing day after day and Russian youngsters tend to spend more and more of their time on Facebook and local “Facebook-like” platforms. At the same time we’ve got “new” platforms like Pinterest, Tumblr and even Snapchat gaining some popularity, while Instagram audience is doubling every 6 months.
We’ve seen messengers taking over classic social media these days. We’ve seen how old-school platforms react to it by developing stand-alone apps, which still have somekind of intergration with their predecessors. They are trying to make youngesters spend most of their Internet time in Facebook and Twitter. Still those big guys are too slow and clumsy to perfectly adapt to our change of preferences. Still they have dozens of niche platforms which biggest advantage is their simplicity.
